GOT A PROJECT IN CAPTURE?
Load it and PhaseUp works out the wiring — phases, sockets and breaker.
1
File → Export Model… , type My Virtual Rig (.mvr)
fixtures, their positions and trusses
2
File → Export Fixture Data… , type CSV
wattage and location names
3
Pick both files at once here (Ctrl / Cmd while clicking).
Tip: fill in Location on the truss — Design → Selected items → Geometry. The fixtures on it inherit it and PhaseUp takes your layout exactly, names included. Without it, trusses are derived from positions.
💡 Add lights to the project

⚠ TURN OFF AUDIO ISOLATION?
Mixing categories across phases
Audio may end up on the same phase as lighting or other gear. That can cause interference in sensitive audio equipment.

Check the trusses
Capture was missing the field Location, so I estimated the trusses from where the fixtures sit. Check the names and quantities — the calculation will follow what you set here. Identical names are merged into one location.
Edit the truss names and quantities. The calculation is redone from what you set here; identical names are merged into one location.
Different power draw
For these fixtures Capture gives a different power draw than the PhaseUp database. Choose which one to calculate with. We have noted the difference and will check it with the manufacturer.

⚡ Socket capacity · A standard single-phase 16 A/230 V socket has a nominal limit of 3 680 W. The app works with a ceiling of 3 000 W (13.0 A) and allows at most 3 090 W — that is 90 W of tolerance, so a setup that only just exceeds the ceiling still fits. The rest up to 3,680 W stays a safety margin against sustained overload of the circuit.
MAIN BREAKER:
TRUSSES
Plan the power for each truss — the software suggests a 16 A cable, a 32 A cable or Socapex and spreads the load across L1/L2/L3.
EXISTING LOAD
Enter how many W are already used on each phase by other sources.
RESERVE CAPACITY
Hold back part of a phase's capacity — a safety margin or devices still to come.
TYPICAL DRAW TOO
The calculation always uses peak draw — phases, sockets and warnings.

This adds a second figure: how much the gear draws in normal operation. With audio the difference can be threefold (an amplifier flat out vs. ordinary loud).

Useful when planning a generator or a longer rental.
⚖ BALANCED
Each unit goes to the least loaded phase, so L1/L2/L3 stay even.

Why it matters: balanced phases = less current in the neutral and symmetrical voltage. When unbalanced, lightly loaded phases sit at a higher voltage (more so on a generator).

Broken neutral: balanced phases limit overvoltage. With an unbalanced load, lightly loaded phases can reach ~400 V and destroy equipment. That is why this is the default.

Click to switch to SEQUENTIAL.
↧ FEWER SOCKETS
Devices are packed into as few sockets as possible — each is filled to its limit before the next one is opened.

When to use it: when you are short on supplies, cables or extension cords and need to get by with the fewest circuits.

Click to MORE SOCKETS — evenly across them all.
ISOLATE AUDIO
Audio is always put on a different phase than lighting — this minimises interference in the PA and other audio.
